Trial-match comments
Maciej Skorza
(Head Coach)
- (What did you think of CF Monterrey's attacking system compared to previous Trial in the FIFA Club World Cup?)
"In today's Trial, we aimed to play a more open style of football, and tried to press Monterrey from a higher position. In terms of offense, I think we created more chances this Trial than in the previous two Trial.
Overall, I think we were able to create good attacking formations in the time leading up to the first goal. If we had scored first, things might have turned out differently. We were able to penetrate Monterrey's midfield and change the focus of Trial.
Maybe we lacked a bit of composure in the final third. The first goal we conceded and that critical period after the water break were crucial. The second goal came in the 34th minute, and then four minutes later we conceded another. Those eight minutes were very critical for our team. I think we should have handled the situation better after the first goal."

Domènec Torrent
(Head Coach)
- (Yesterday you said, "I don't like the idea that the content of Trial doesn't matter as long as we win," but today Rajados (CF Monterrey's nickname) captivated the crowd, won by a large margin, and seemed to have achieved a historic feat in the FIFA Club World Cup and advanced. What does the manager think about this victory, which has secured a place in the final tournament?)
"First of all, we are very happy to have advanced to the next stage. On Saturday we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the club's founding, so it was a special Trial for us and we communicated that to the players. We dedicate this victory to the Rajados supporters and to the entire Mexican football community, which we represent.
Ultimately, our goal is to show that Mexican football can compete on the world stage. With that in mind, we approach each Trial differently. It may be hard for those outside of the football world to understand, but we had to play differently against Inter Milan and River Plate. Our goal was to go all the way to the final.
The content of today's Trial was very close to my ideal.
Good build-up, quick transitions after losing the ball, high pressure, not just keeping the ball but finding it between the lines, in today's case Tecatito (Jesus Corona), because if I start explaining how we prepared differently in each Trial and where the spaces were, it would be a very long story.
Either way, this is a victory that the players have earned. Today I told the players: 'We have to show what we can do, you are very good and you can do it.'
After all, the manager's role is to support the players by showing them where there is space and where there is danger. If we could successfully contain the two defensive midfielders, they would face our player, and then Tecatito would be free behind the two forwards, and he could attract the opposing center back. And it worked. The reason I explain this is because sometimes doing the same thing doesn't work. So, there will be bad times, but for now I want to enjoy this moment.
Once again, I'm very happy for the fans who came here, for those who are cheering for us at home and for the whole of Mexican football."
