Regarding implementation of carbon offset at Kashiwa game [Sustainable Day] on 10/20 (Friday)

On October 20th (Friday) vs. Kashiwa Reysol [MATCH PARTNER J:COM], Urawa Reds and Saitama Stadium 2○○2 will utilize the "J-Credit System (*1)" to reduce CO2 emitted at the stadium. We would like to inform you that we will implement carbon offset.

To date, Urawa Reds has worked with Saitama Prefecture, Saitama Stadium 2○○2, and partner companies to reduce waste by collecting waste separately at home games, encouraging people to bring their own cutlery and bags, and introducing reusable cups. Although we have been working on the recycling of resources, we can reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases such as CO2 that cannot be avoided during match operations by purchasing J-Credits commensurate with the amount of emissions. This project aims to offset CO2 emissions and create a "sustainable stadium and city."

At Urawa Reds home games, CO2 is emitted from electricity, gas, water, fuel, garbage disposal, etc. associated with match management. It is assumed that approximately 10 tons of CO2 will be emitted during the match, which is equivalent to the amount of CO2 absorbed by approximately 700 cedar trees in one year, or the amount required by a forest covering approximately 1.2 pitches.

The target of this carbon offset is basically Scope 1 and Scope 2 (*2), and in the future carbon neutrality including Scope 3 (gasoline, electricity, etc. used for transportation of players, staff, and visitors during games) We aim to

*1 The J-Credit System is a system in which the country certifies as "credits" the amount of greenhouse gas emissions reduced or absorbed, such as CO2, through initiatives such as the introduction of energy-saving equipment and forest management. The credits created through this system can be used for a variety of purposes, including achieving the goals of the Keidanren Carbon Neutral Action Plan and carbon offsets.

*2 The following items are eligible for carbon offset for the match:
Electricity consumption/Gas consumption/Water consumption/Fuel consumption/Combustible waste treatment/Non-combustible waste treatment/Waste plastics/PET bottles (recycled)/Cardboard and paper (recycled)/Paper cups (recycled)
Please note that home games other than this one are subject to carbon offsets implemented by the J.League.
