"We are focused on the next game. We want to move forward one step at a time." Coach Maciej Skorza (regular press conference 9/27)

On the 27th, manager Maciej Skorza held a press conference online, where he expressed his enthusiasm for the Meiji Yasuda Life J1 League Round 29 match against Yokohama FC [MATCH PARTNER Mitsubishi Heavy Industries], which will be held at Saitama Stadium on the 29th.

(There are 6 games left in the league, how do you think about the 6 point difference with the leader?)
“I think we missed out on a lot of points this season. However, we are in this position now, so we want to move forward one step at a time like we have always done.We are always looking forward to the next game. I'm thinking about this, and now I'm trying to prepare as well as possible for the match against Yokohama FC want to show a good performance to the fans and supporters at our home stadium and win.''

(What does Coach Maciej think is the Reds' strength over other teams?)
“I think one of my good traits now is that I am able to fight with confidence.I also think it is good that I am able to create chances and score goals.Until now, There were times when we weren't able to score, but I think we're able to do that now both at home and away.

Additionally, players who have not played for a long time are giving strength to the team. I think Bryan Linssen and Toshiki Takahashi are the strengths of our team."

(Jose Kante has been suspended for two games. I think it was a wasteful foul, but how do you feel about it as a coach?)
``Regardless of whether the opponent provoked him or not, Jose (Kante)'s reaction was not good. Jose has been scoring goals and giving us a lot of points lately. I don't think it was good. We have to avoid situations like this in the future, and I hope that this will be the last red card of the season. As we approach the end of the season, the (YBC) Levain Cup will also be held in ACL. We need to act more responsibly in light of the (AFC Champions League)."

(Players who didn't play much, such as Bryan Linssen Toshiki Takahashi, are now showing their strength. I think there are some players who don't have many opportunities to play, but I think it's important to look at those players. What is the secret to keeping it in good condition?)
“I think with Brian (Linssen) and Toshiki (Takahashi), they had different moments this season. There were times when they were given opportunities and they didn't take advantage of them. But they still kept moving forward. I think it's because we've worked hard and continued to fight in practice that we're able to show the results in our performances at the end of the season.''

(Yokohama FC is in the bottom of the rankings, but when playing against such a team, the higher ranked teams often struggle. The opponent was a team with a strong defense, and there were times when we lost to such an opponent, but what is the important point? Do you think it will become?)
“Yokohama FC is a very unpredictable team, so it could be a difficult match. They are very organized when defending and have dangerous counterattacks, which is where we will make use of the speed of Ryoya Yamashita. .And we have achieved good results against top big teams such as Nagoya Grampus, Yokohama F・Marinos, and Vissel Kobe have to play smartly and are required to play with high intensity right from the start. I think so. I just want to make the most of the atmosphere in the stadium."

(In recent years, the Reds have often failed in matches after dramatic games. I think the game against Yokohama FC will be exactly like that, but are there any ways to encourage the players mentally?)
“It will be important to execute our game plan properly from the start. We must keep our motivation high, run hard, fight, and maintain tactical discipline. We have to do it.When we play against Yokohama FC, we will be limited in how many chances we can create, so we want to play without rushing.Maybe it will be a game that will be decided in the last 15 minutes. I think it will be a very important match for our opponent Yokohama FC as well. It will be a tough match for both teams."

(I think Coach Maciej has won the league championship four times in his career, but how much does he pay attention to the standings and other teams' results?)
``We haven't had many situations like that before, but that doesn't mean they haven't happened.Depending on the results at other venues, it can change whether we need a win or a draw is enough. So, I think we have to change our game plan a little bit.So far, we have won twice when we were at the hotel because the results of other venues came out first.I tasted the victory on the pitch. I want to (laughs).”

(I think Jose Kante 's ability to hit from a distance was necessary against Yokohama FC, who were solidifying their defense, but what kind of play would you like the striker to play in this match?)
“I would like to decide on the members after practice the day before the game, but there is a possibility that there will be two players at the top.I think it is important for the two people in the front to work together, whether it is in the high press or in the build-up. I think the most important thing is decisiveness. Jose has shown decisiveness recently, but I don't think he will be able to fill that role easily. However, the three players in that position, Bryan Linssen, have also recently We're scoring points, and Toshiki Takahashi also scored a goal.I think Shinzo (Koroki), who was a little down in his condition in the summer, is improving now.In the last game, Jose, Toshiki, Our three strikers, Brian, scored, and I hope we can do that in the next game as well.”

(After Jose Kante was sent off, the team seemed to be moving better. How do you feel about the team's play now that there are 10 players?)
“I think the players did a great job after Jose got the red card. I think they realized that they needed to work even harder to win and I think they did that. ”

(As there are fewer matches left, how are you communicating with your players about how to maintain their mindset when the title is on the line?)
“As I said earlier, we are concentrating on the next match. We are currently playing against Yokohama FC. We are thinking about the next match one game at a time and want to gradually move forward. That's what I tell the players as well."

(The Reds and Yokohama F・Marinos are also competing in the ACL and YBC Levain Cups, but I don't think even Poland would have had to play the final game in such a congested schedule.)
“We have played 43 games so far this season, and the match against Yokohama FC will be the 44th. Moreover, this is the first season for me that has at least 14 games remaining. I don't think any team has played this many games in one season, but I'm enjoying it and it's been a great experience. I've worked with some great people at the Reds. We have been able to do so, and all of our wonderful fans and supporters are supporting us.”

(After the game against Gamba Osaka, Hiroki Sakai said, ``All the staff members have given 120 percent, but we are still in this position.'' On the other hand, the club and manager have created an environment where they can give 120 percent.) I think that's one of the reasons why they are in 3rd place even though there are many injured players.)
``I think this is an environment created not by me, but by many people at the club, and the players are doing the biggest job.

The away game against Gamba Osaka is a very difficult match. For example, the first match of the Levain Cup was an away game, but we were completely outclassed in terms of content. And in our last match, it was a difficult away game and we ended up with 10 players. In that situation, I think we had to go beyond our limits and give 120% to win, but as Hiroki (Sakai) said, I think our players did exactly that.

Of course, the staff, fans and supporters are doing their best to support the players, but the most important job belongs to the players on the pitch. I feel very fortunate to be able to coach players who are showing me that kind of attitude."
