Thiago: "I'm most happy that the team got three points"
On the 11th, after the 13th round of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League Albirex Niigata, Thiago Santana, who scored two goals today, spoke about his thoughts on his two goals and his assist to Naoki Maeda.
(That was the first time you scored two goals in one game?)
"I'm very happy, but what makes me happiest is that the team got three points."
(But what about the perfect assist to Naoki Maeda?)
"I think it was a very good goal for him too. I'm glad he was able to score a goal, which will help him regain his confidence. (Maeda) Naoki always makes good passes and creates good chances for me, so I really wanted to repay him. I'm really glad that I was able to repay him with an assist this time."
(How did you feel when you scored the last penalty kick?)
"In truth, I think we should have been in control with the score at 3-0. But we gave the opponents some space and unfortunately we conceded two goals. We were lucky enough not to concede a third goal, and I'm really glad that everyone, including myself, defended well until the very end and we were able to score the fourth goal."
(Maybe they're starting to mass-produce goals?)
"Of course I'm happy that I scored, but I try not to think too much about that. More than anything, I want to improve with each game and aim for the team's goal of winning the championship. As for how things will be when the league ends, I want to put the team first."
