Coach Maciej Skorza 's post-match press conference against Kobe

Meiji Yasuda J1 League Round 32 match Vissel Kobe Post-match comments

"Today we played against Vissel Kobe, one of the best teams in the J-League. They are a team with particularly strong offensive power.

In the first half, we tried to control the game with zone 2 and zone 1. I think we did a good job of containing the ball early on, except for shots from throw-ins. However, the impact of conceding a goal from a corner kick was too great for the team. After that, we got a little nervous, and instead of playing the short passes we had prepared, we started kicking a lot of long balls, which made it easier for Kobe to defend.

In the second half, we were more aggressive and tried to create chances. Thiago (Santana) had some chances, so I think it would not have been strange if we had scored. In the second half, the game was more open, so we made three substitutions and tried to push harder.

I think that in today's match, we were able to fight with a high level of determination. However, once we got into the final third, we weren't as impatient and didn't come up with as many ideas to play with. This result is very disappointing for us. However, we saw a great attitude to keep fighting until the end, so I think there were some positive aspects to the match."

[Question and Answer Session]
(Why did you choose Genki Haraguchi as a starter?)
"Today, (Haraguchi) Genki was in the starting lineup, and showed a very high level of performance. As we thought that Genki might not be able to play the full 90 minutes, we had been thinking before the match of bringing in Samuel (Gustavsson) and (Nakajima) Shoya in the middle of the game. With Samuel in the defensive midfielder position and Shoya in the midfield, we were ready to show off their skills at any time. Then, when we made three substitutions, we placed (Nita) Rio on the attacking right wing, in an attempt to use a fresh player."

(Haraguchi looked as if he had some kind of injury when he was substituted, but was this a scheduled substitution or was he injured?)
"He wasn't injured. I was told to give a signal if he got tired. He was performing well and showed very good quality, but continuing to play in a tired state can lead to injury, so I substituted him."
