Ugajin and Horiuchi participated in the Urawa Fire Chief's event on the 1st
On the 15th, Tomoya UGAJIN and Yota Horiuchi participated in the "National Fire Prevention Campaign" event held on the rooftop of Isetan Urawa, where they served as the one-day Urawa Fire Chief and the one-day Urawa Special Advanced Rescue Team Chief. This campaign was held with the aim of further spreading the idea of fire prevention and deepening the understanding of citizens about fire prevention as we approach the season when fires are more likely to occur.
At the event, on a stage set up on the roof, Urawa Fire Chief Hoshino Masahiko presented Ugajin with a letter of appointment as one-day Urawa Fire Chief, and Horiuchi with a letter of appointment as one-day Urawa Special Advanced Rescue Team captain.
First, Ugajin, who was appointed as the Urawa Fire Department Chief for the day, addressed the attendees, saying, "It is a rare experience for me to wear this uniform, so I feel a sense of responsibility. I also love the city of Urawa, and it would be best if the fire department members were not called out to do any work, so let's once again understand the importance of prevention and be careful together."
Next, a firefighting drill was conducted by Yota Horiuchi who was appointed as the head of the Urawa Special Advanced Rescue Team on the 1st.
After receiving instruction on how to use a fire extinguisher from a special rescue team member from Urawa Fire Department, Horiuchi actually used the extinguisher and practiced the training. After the training, Horiuchi commented, "I realized once again that it is truly amazing to head to a dangerous place to save many people while protecting yourself. It is best not to have a fire, but if there is a situation where we need to use a fire extinguisher, I would like to take action proactively."
The two then had a tour of the store's fire prevention equipment and were given an explanation about the importance of the equipment and the regular training that goes into it.
Finally, they distributed awareness-raising goods to the approximately 100 attendees, smiling and communicating with each participant, thus concluding their activities as the one-day Urawa Fire Chief and the one-day Special Advanced Rescue Team.

"We don't often get an opportunity like this, so I was more nervous than I would be during a match. I think it's best that firefighters don't have to be called out, but I would be happy if this event would encourage people to take another look at their homes and their surroundings and raise their awareness of fire prevention. Many Urawa Reds fans and supporters came, so I hope it will be an opportunity for them to learn something new.
I also learned how to use a fire extinguisher, and I want to become someone who can act quickly when something happens in front of me. Not only in firefighting, but also within the team, I want to trust my teammates and value teamwork."

"Putting on fire gear and heading to dangerous places to support and rescue various people requires a great deal of determination and effort. I was reminded once again that this activity is the result of regular training. I think it is most important that disasters and fires do not occur, so I would like everyone to be careful once again to avoid tragic accidents from small things, and I myself will also be careful. I hope that this activity will help many people learn about disaster prevention and activities to protect themselves, and that more people will understand the importance of fire prevention."
