Segawa, Ladies' Ando, Sugasawa, and Nozomi participate in the "Urawa Urawa Reds Supporters Association 2024 Season Final Party"
On the 14th, the "Urawa Urawa Reds Supporters Association 2024 Season Closing Party" was held in Saitama City, with four players participating: Ayumi Niekawa from the men's top team, and Kozue Ando, Yuika Sugasawa, and Hikaru Naomoto from the women's top team.
The end-of-year party is an event organized by Urawa Reds Supporters' Association, and is held after the end of the league games for players, fans, and supporters to look back on the past year's struggles and come together more than ever before as they head into the next season. This year's end-of-year party was attended by approximately 500 people, including supporters' association members and members of the general public.
In the 2023 season, in consideration of the busy schedule of the men's top team, the event was held in a format where pre-recorded videos were distributed online. As a result, it was the first time in two years since the 2022 season that the event was held offline, and the first time in five years since the 2019 season that the men's top team and the women's top team were held together.
The MCs for the day were Natsumi Asai and Yoshiaki Iwasawa, familiar personalities of the Reds' home game in-stadium broadcast "GO REDS GO!". The first part featured Segawa from the men's top team, the second part featured Ando, Sugasawa, and Nozomi from the women's top team, and the third part featured all four players, both male and female, who participated in a talk event and a lottery for autographed goods.
Prior to the talk show, the vice-chairman of the supporters' association, Tomotaka Fukuda, and Urawa Reds representative Makoto Taguchi gave speeches. Representative Taguchi expressed his gratitude for the support given to the men's top team this season, his determination for next season, which will also see the FIFA World Cup, and his hopes for the women's top team to win the WE League for the third consecutive year, as well as his enthusiasm for the Empress's Cup.
The talk show was held in a friendly atmosphere from beginning to end, from the first part to the third part. Segawa, who appeared on stage in the first part, looked back on this season, in which he made his first appearance in the J1 League, shared advice from goalkeeper coach Juan Miret, who has decided to retire, and shared stories about his good friend Shoya Nakajima, exciting the packed venue.
Between the second and third parts, a video message was played from Shusaku Nishikawa who became captain midway through this season. In it, Nishikawa said, "There's no doubt that your support this season was a great help. In the 2025 season, we'll join hands with all of you and do our best to win the championship, so please continue to support us."
At the end of the event, each athlete expressed their gratitude for the support this year and their enthusiasm for next year, which was met with loud applause and smiles. On the way home, the four athletes sent off the participants with a high-five, and the 2024 season finale came to a close with great success.
