Nishikawa and Horiuchi visit Saitama Children's Medical Center and Saitama House
On the 9th, Shusaku Nishikawa and Yota Horiuchi visited the Saitama Prefectural Medical Pediatric Center and Saitama House, a lodging facility for patients and their families within the hospital.
Nishikawa has visited the facility online in 2021 and 2022 with the desire to "do something for the children in his hometown," and has had the opportunity to interact with the children even though it was online. However, now that the effects of the new coronavirus infection have subsided, we are finally able to visit in real life.
In 2021, Tomoaki Okubo, and in 2022 Rei Kihara (on loan to AC Nagano Parceiro), both players in their first year as professional players, have participated with Nishikawa, and this year also marks one year since they were promoted from youth to the top team. Horiuchi, who is my favorite, decided to visit.
The two first visited Saitama Prefectural Children's Medical Center. After greeting hospital director Akira Oka, they went around the wards and interacted with children while listening to explanations from the doctors in charge.
We will be giving away a Saitama House Heartful Cart (a cart used to distribute daily necessities and toys to support hospitalized children and their families), as well as Urawa Reds merchandise with their autographs. Each of them communicated well with the children and their families.
Not only the children but also their parents were delighted with their visit, their eyes shining brightly. Some of the children were waiting for them wearing Reds uniforms and were so happy that they said ``panic'' while holding their heads, and after the two left, some children told their parents with tears in their eyes how happy they were. .
Afterwards, they visited Saitama House and interacted with the Liver Transplant Family Association. First, each child was handed a message with a message written on it, which brought smiles to their faces. While some of the children were excited and expressed their joy with their whole bodies, they interacted with each other by taking pictures with their families, and at the end they all took a commemorative photo together. The parents who greeted the children on behalf of their families said, ``These two are our heroes.''
The two spent a total of about an hour and a half, a hectic but intense time, and with deep emotion they said in unison, ``I'm glad I was able to visit.''
Regarding this visit, which was his first experience, Horiuchi said, ``In the first place, there are not many opportunities like this, and there were many things that I didn't understand until I actually came. I am supported by them.I can listen to their stories, but when I actually came and saw them, I realized that this is what they are doing.I also feel that I am supported by many people. I thought about it again and realized that I have to work even harder," he said seriously.
Nishikawa, who fulfilled his long-awaited visit, said, ``By actually visiting, I was able to see everyone's expressions, and I realized once again the importance of direct communication.'' I was able to feel how hard we were working, and I also knew that everyone was watching our efforts.Seeing how hard we were working made everyone want to ``let's do our best'' again. That made me really happy. "I'm happy that we're building a mutual relationship rather than one-sided encouragement."
