Official press conference after match against Hanoi FC
AFC Champions League 2023/24 Group Stage MD6 Match against Hanoi FC (Vietnam) Post-match comments
[Rafal Janas Coach]
“First of all, I would like to congratulate Hanoi FC. I think Hanoi FC played very strong today and deserved the victory.
We had a bad start to the game today. Things didn't go as planned for the first 15 or 20 minutes. And it was the second time this season that we lost a game because (Alexander) Scholz missed a penalty kick. We then conceded a goal from a corner kick, which was the first time this season. Today was not a typical day for the Reds.
In the second half, they tried to speed up their play in order to catch up, which led to the equalizing goal. In addition to that, we created a couple of chances, but today's conversion rate was not good.
This made it much harder for the Reds to get past the group stage. From now on, I would like to return to Japan and fully recover. I hope to end the year on a good note at the FIFA Club World Cup, which is the last tournament of the season.”
[Question-and-answer session]
(Before the match, did you imagine losing to Hanoi FC?)
``Of course we went to win, so we didn't expect that, but even in the pre-match meeting, I told the players, ``This is completely different from the Hanoi FC team we played two months ago, they are more organized and play better.'' ``This aspect of the team is also showing.''Today, Hanoi FC showed that aspect in the match and won against the Reds.''
(Is it a condition problem, a mental problem, or because the opponent made a good start?)
“I also watched Hanoi FC play against Pohang (Steelers), so I couldn’t say that Hanoi FC was better than I expected. However, I think there are some difficult points mentally. Of course I don't want to use that as an excuse, but I understand the situation. And I think they're human beings too."
