Per-Mathias Hoegmo manager, press conference after the match against Kashima

Meiji Yasuda J1 League Round 27 match against Kashima Antlers Post-match comments

"I think we played well in a great atmosphere. The incredible 7,000 or so Reds supporters in attendance gave us inspiration.

Tactically, the first half was almost perfect. We didn't allow the opponent to create any chances, and we created our own. There were close calls where (Watanabe) Ryoma's first touch could have been better. In the second half, both teams had ups and downs, and the game became a bit more open. At the end, players looked a bit tired, especially those who had been sidelined with injuries.

Our players showed great attitude, and players like (Inoue) Reijin and (Ago) Kaito showed their continued improvement. I thought they were both great.

In our last four away games we have only conceded one goal, and that was from a penalty.”

[Question and Answer Session]
(I think Tomoaki Okubo got injured and was substituted in the first half, but Shoya Nakajima and Hidetoshi Takeda were probably the choices. Why did you choose Nakajima?)
"I think the referee did a good job today. However, I cannot accept that there was no yellow card for Tomo (Tomoaki Okubo), as it means that the player was not protected.

Given the options you mentioned, we put Ryoma on the right and put (Nakajima) Shoya in the attacking midfielder position. It was a difficult decision for us at halftime, but we moved Ryoma to the side because he can also defend well there.

It had been a while since Shoya last played in a match, so we were worried about his defence on the side, which is why we made this substitution."

(Today, Shusaku Nishikawa was suspended and Ayumi Niekawa played instead. What do you think of him?)
"We managed to keep a clean sheet and I thought they did a good job defensively. I think they can improve further in attack, but they did a good job considering they haven't played much this season."
