Segawa and Nita visit "Hibiki", a welfare facility for people with disabilities

On the 5th, Ayumi Niekawa and Rio Nitta visited Hibiki, a welfare facility for people with disabilities.

Hibiki, which we visited this time, is a facility that supports people with disabilities in living in the community and participating in society through various activities. The visit was made possible as a result of the club's social contribution activity, "Kono Yubi TomaREDS!", which began in 2020 and is now in its fourth year, starting with supporting people with disabilities as a new initiative.

When the two players arrived at the facility, they were greeted with warm applause from the residents. After each player introduced themselves, they were then introduced to each other by each of the residents, and they deepened their relationships with each other through handshakes and high-fives.

Afterwards, the two players worked with the facility users on the usual crafting tasks. The players were nervous at first, but their expressions gradually softened as they interacted with the facility users, and while enjoying conversation, they helped create "spinning sticks" with soccer ball motifs, "player charms," and "wood magnets" with handwritten messages from the two players, completing their crafts.

After the work was completed, the two players presented the facility with autographed colored paper and uniforms as a thank you for this exchange. The users also gave the players handmade message cards and embroidered key chains, and the visit ended with a commemorative photo of everyone.

The goods that the players and users made this time will be on sale at the Home Town booth at the 31st round of the 2024 Meiji Yasuda J1 League match against FC Tokyo [MATCH PARTNER DHL] on Saturday, September 21st, along with an introduction and exhibition of the facility.

"This visit made me realize once again how much support we are given by so many people. I would be happy if we can be of some help to the users by delivering victory and excitement through soccer. I was happy to hear so many voices from the users, and it also gave me energy. I believe that by professional soccer players like us taking part in activities like this, we can contribute to society and it is an initiative that can once again spread awareness of the greatness of soccer, so I would like to continue to take an active role in such activities in the future."

[Rio Nitta]
"This was my first time taking part in this kind of activity, but it was a very meaningful experience. We received warm support from the users and it gave us a lot of energy. I think it's important to take an active role in these activities, and I believe it's thanks to the support of so many people that we're able to continue playing soccer on the pitch. Next time, I hope we can give back with a victory."
