Hiroki Abe joins press conference

Hiroki Abe 's joining press conference was held on the 14th, and Abe, Hisashi Tsuchida, Sports Director (SD), and Tsutomu Nishino, Technical Director (TD) attended and answered questions from the media.

[Hisashi Tsuchida SD]
“Thank you very much for coming to join Abe’s press conference today. I hope that you will raise your level and be active as a member of the team soon.I look forward to working with you today.”

(Hiroki Abe)
"My name is Hiroki Abe, and I joined the team this summer. It's been about a week since I joined the team, but the staff and players have warmly welcomed me, and I feel very comfortable. I haven't been able to show my face to the fans and supporters yet, but I will do my best to meet everyone at the stadium as soon as possible.

[Question-and-answer session]
(I think it's only been a few days since you joined the Reds, and I don't know how far you've come together in general training, but overall, how do you feel about doing it?)
"I don't know how long I can keep going, but I'm at the stage where I've started to partially join. Since it's the end of the holidays, I want to improve my cardiopulmonary function as soon as possible. As you all know, it's a lot. I've had injuries before, so I'm working with the team's medical staff to get back to work as soon as possible."

(I think you've seen a few Reds games, how did they play as a team?)
“I find it very attractive that the front line is fluid and that we are able to play without being tied down to positions. We have a solid image of defense, and the fact that we have conceded few goals is reflected in the numbers, so that is very attractive. I think it's a target."

(You joined from FC Barcelona Atletico, the B team of FC Barcelona. What do you think is good about going to Barcelona?)
"It's an asset to be able to feel the atmosphere and the abilities of the players in the world's top players and the facilities that are said to be the top. It may be a bit of a stretch, but I don't think there's that much of a difference in terms of technical aspects, etc. I think that if Japan's football were to turn in the right direction, it would soon shrink. I'm glad I was able to do it."

(How did you come to join the Reds?)
"It's literally a simple process of getting in touch, receiving an offer, and signing a contract."

(You also got No. 10 in Kashima Antlers, but what were your thoughts on Kashima and hesitation in joining the Reds?)
"I can't tell you everything, but there are many things, such as the terms of the contract and whether or not you have received an offer. I don't have much to talk about right now, so please take care of me."

(How do you recall your feelings playing against Real Madrid and River Plate in the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup?)
“Until you said it, I couldn’t remember anything, but the Reds are a team that has the Club World Cup ahead of them, so I think I have experienced that feeling a little bit. I have a vague understanding of the characteristics of , so I think having that experience is an advantage.

(Was it one of the attractions of joining the Reds that there will be a Club World Cup at the end of this year and that there will be a Club World Cup in 2025 where many teams from Europe will gather?)
"You are right."

(Having been from Kita-ku, Tokyo, was Urawa Reds close to you from a young age?)
“It was the closest professional soccer team to my hometown, and the only stadium I visited when I was little was Saitama Stadium. There are things, and those people are happy, so I'm happy myself."

(I have a question for the football headquarters. I don't think it was possible to confirm the play in the official game like a normal player because he was an injured player, but how do you deal with the current situation of Abe? Did you confirm and reach the offer?)
Hisashi Tsuchida Sports Director
“We decided to have Abe join us to express the football we are aiming for, but we have been listing Abe for some time. As you said earlier, there is an injury, but we have decided that it is not a problem, and we will ask him to improve his performance more and more from now on. I want you to become a fighting force as soon as possible.”

(I have a question for Abe. It may have been better if his career progressed smoothly from FC Barcelona, but what do you want to express by joining the Reds? What kind of milestone do you see joining the Reds? do you want?)
“I don’t have any particular mental issues about coming back from an overseas team like Barcelona to a domestic team. I’m not the type to adjust my mentality to the current situation. There was a past where I didn't know how it would go, so I think it's a matter of where to compare. If you look at your starting point and compare it with that as you go through your professional life, I think there will be less mental instability. I didn't even think about it."

(I think you have an image that the Reds are a club that is under pressure from the people around you, but what do you want to express at a club that has a lot of fans and supporters?)
“First of all, what can I do to help the team win? Find out what is lacking in order to win. I think, and there are various timings and circumstances of the team, so if it fits well, I will be happy.

(When you saw the Reds match, you said, "The front line is fluid and there are no restrictions on positions." Is there a position you imagine or a position where you think your good qualities are likely to work? Also, in the Reds Is there a goal for
“Regarding my position, I think I can play well anywhere, right, left, center, or one-top. Or, I think it would be nice if everyone could make it easier to play.

I'm the type of player who doesn't set goals for myself, so the first step is to stand on the pitch. I don't know if I'm going to score a goal when I'm on the pitch, or I'm going to assist, or I'm going to do my best in defense. Beyond that, I haven't really thought about it yet."

(What was your honest impression when you received the offer from Urawa? Did you have any worries in making a decision, or was there someone who taught you your back?)
"First of all, even if it wasn't at this time, I had a little communication with Mr. Reds, regardless of whether the offer was received or not. And my friends are happy.Imagination might have been a big factor in my decision.I'm only 24 years old, but people around me didn't often come to see the game, so One of the big reasons is that I want my family and friends to come and see me.”

(Do you have a specific image of play in the organization?)
“I am afraid that if I say that I am lacking in this kind of play here, it will be a criticism of the players who are doing their best on the pitch. I want to join the team as soon as possible and reduce the burden on the team.I think the second half of the season is a tough time for me to play, so I think it's very important to work hard. I think it takes time to get my teammates to understand, so I think the easiest way to understand and play is to work hard first.”

(I have a question for the football headquarters. What do you expect from Abe?)
Tsutomu Nishino Technical Director
“In terms of play, I certainly hope that Urawa Reds will improve the quality of the area around the penalty area in order to generate goals, which is lacking at the moment. I have great expectations for the mentality of how the Reds will fight for the world by conveying the message that the difference between Japan and Urawa Reds is not that much. There are various risks in recruiting players, but it is a fact that Abe has not played in official matches for two years. However, if anything, I would like him to give top priority to improving his performance, and to show the best of his career at Urawa Reds.”

(I have a question for Abe. During the long period when you were not able to play as you wanted, what was the most important thing you thought about during that period? Was there anything difficult? Or were you always looking forward?)
“I didn’t find anything particularly difficult. I have a lot of people around me, including everyone around me, my teammates, the club staff, my family and friends. I didn't feel anything. I was working hard day by day."

(In the meantime, the Tokyo Olympics and FIFA World Cup were also held, but what kind of memories did you watch?)
"There were more or less complicated thoughts there."

(How have you been working on your comeback during the two years you haven't played?)
“Regarding my first injury, it was a corona disaster, so there was a time when it was difficult to do a full rehabilitation. Therefore, it is difficult to explain everything in this, but we have taken various approaches, both inside and outside the team, to get to where we are today.”

(I haven't played in official games for two years, but when was the timing when I was able to play to some extent?)
“If I had been scheduled to play in an official game, I would have joined the team earlier and put more pressure on myself. There was, so Barcelona's policy was that it would be better to take it slow and not rush it. increase"

(Do you feel uneasy about being away from actual combat?)
"I don't feel anything"

(Maybe you haven't trained that hard, but how long will it take you to get back into action? How is your condition now?)
"It's difficult to set a goal, but if you can return quickly, just do it early, and if you have any problems, just take it slow. I think it's not just me, but other injured players as well. If there is a problem, I just take a break, so ideally I would like to follow the same flow as other new players.”

(There was also a story that ``Saitama Stadium was the only stadium I went to when I was little,'' but do you remember which games you went to and what impressions you had?)
“I think it was when we played against Manchester United.

(I think you've been in rehab for a long time, but have you ever tried to improve your body instead of just treating it?)
"I've done a lot, so it's difficult to talk about something in the abstract, but basically it's a form of approaching what I think is the cause of the injury recovery and injury."

(I have a question for the Football Headquarters. What do you expect most from Abe when he stands on the pitch, and what do you want him to add to the team?)
Hisashi Tsuchida Sports Director
“I would like him to express his unique style on the pitch. To be more specific, I would like him to accentuate his offense and play that will lead to results.”

(I have a question for Abe. Why did you choose number 7 on your jersey?)
"Because it was vacant. But it's a good number, and number 7 is an attractive number in football. When I was presenting the vacant number when I signed the contract, number 7 was vacant, so I had no hesitation. I think I have to put on a performance that matches my number, and I'll do my best while feeling the pressure of being number 7."

(I think you've already been communicating with Maciej Maciej Skorza, have you talked to him about how you're going to come back, your expectations and your role?)
“Regarding my return, there is no direct communication between the manager and myself. Regarding my return, I basically have a specific discussion with the medical team and share it with the manager, coaches, and people around me. I have not talked directly with the director about the prospect of returning.

As for the play, the other day I joined the team and I think I saw my touch the ball for the first time, so I was told that I had high expectations. I don't know the details, as it depends on the situation of the team and the other players, but I will do my best to live up to their expectations."
